James E. Lewis, 60, Port Orange, Fla., Professor Emeritus at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, died at home Monday, April 10, 2006.
He retired from the Ohio National Guard and served with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1970. He was a Vietnam veteran and held the DFC, Purple Heart and 17 air medals. Jim and his wife, Kathy DeLashmutt, graduated from Worthington High School in 1964. He attended The Ohio State University and received his BS and MS degrees from Embry Riddle. They moved to Port Orange in 1987.

He is survived by his spouse of 36 years, Kathy; daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Erin, Josh and Ethan Webb, Columbus; daughter, Robin, Tucson, Ariz.; 3 brothers, Charles and William, both of Worthington, David, Hayward, Calif. Preceded in death by his parents Charles W. and Eleanor Dominy Lewis of Linworth and sister Patty Hovorka.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the James E. Lewis Scholarship Fund at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Attn. Jamie Belongia, Director of Gift Planning, ERAU 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach, Fla. 32114.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Xenos Christian Fellowship, 1340 Community Park Dr. Brother-in-law Gary DeLashmutt officiating. Private interment will be at Dublin Cemetery.
