LTC. Andrew J. “The Colonel” Regrut, 67, passed away on August 29, 2004.
Retired LTC. U.S. Army Veteran with 28 years of service. Flew both fixed wing and helicopter and was associated with original medi-copter. Retired teacher with 33 years of service. Taught health and science at New Albany and Hamilton Township, and Occupational Work Experience at Franklin Heights High School. Football coach and girls and boys tennis coach. Manager of Northland Swim Club for 38 years. Member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Preceded by mother Elizabeth Jacobs Regrut and father Peter John Regrut.
Survivors include loving wife of 44 years, Betty A. (Mahanna) Regrut; children, Laura A. Regrut and Roger Gallo, Andrew D. and Michele M. Regrut, Lisa M. Regrut and Daniel Anello, Luci L. Regrut and Edwin J. Brooks III; grandchildren, Paige L. Regrut, Andrea J. Regrut, Lia R. Gallo, and Gregory I. Gallo; brother, Peter C. and Marilyn Regrut; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Donna Krajnak, Dave and Millie Mahanna, Bill and Donna Mahanna; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graduated from St. Edwards High School in Lakewood, Ohio, Ohio State University with a B.S., and Xavier University with a MED. Passions were his family, flying, running, trains, traveling, the Northland Swim Club, and the Cleveland Browns.
Memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 3 at St. Anthony’s Church, 1300 Urban Drive at 7:30 p.m. Celebrated by Monsignor Frank P. Lane. All are invited to attend the Memorial mass with a reception immediately following from 8:30-11:30 p.m. at Northland Swim Club, 5006 Almont Drive. Reception inclement weather alternative will be St. Anthony’s multi-purpose hall.
