Paul R. Holbrook Jr., 60, of Columbus, Ohio, and the Annapolis Yacht Basin, died after an accidental drowning Jan. 12, 2008 in the Annapolis Yacht Basin.
Mr. Holbrook was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Ohio, and graduated in 1973 from Ohio University with a master’s degree in fine arts.
He worked as a pilot for the Ohio National Guard for 13 years.
A retired Major, he served as a pilot in the Army from 1967 to 1973 before joining the National Guard. He served in Vietnam and received many decorations, including the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Quiet Bird Men.
Mr. Holbrook purchased his boat in Annapolis in 2002, and spent several months each year since then at the Annapolis Yacht Basin. He particularly enjoyed the Annapolis Boat Show. A prolific artist and very social person, he also enjoyed flying, photography, reading and a good party.
Survivors include his fiance, Judy Reed of Columbus; one son, Nicholas Holbrook of Westerville, Ohio; one daughter, Andrea Holbrook of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three sisters, Priscilla Coonrod of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Pamela Bardin of West Jordan, Utah, and Penny Kincaid of Columbus.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Columbus. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home.
